About Staffordshire University
Staffordshire University is a reputed university that has its main campus in the city of Stoke-on-Trent. Its other campuses are situated in Lichfield and Stafford. The North Staffordshire polytechnic was formed in 1971 with the merger of North Staffordshire College of Technology, Stoke-on-Trent College of Art and Staffordshire College of Technology.
In 1988, the institution came to be called the Staffordshire Polytechnic and it became the Staffordshire University in 1992.
There are two main campuses in Staffordshire University, namely, Stoke-on-Trent and Stafford. These including Lichfield have in-built business villages consisting of furnished office spaces with 24/7 internet access. The Stoke-On-Trent campus offers courses in Business, law, sciences, arts, design, computing, media production and journalism. The school of Computing is housed in the newly renovated Brindley Building in Stoke and offers the best courses in the computing field in the United Kingdom. The Faculty offers an impressive range of resources for applied computing and computing science. These are supplemented through open access resources and teaching aids provided by the information services.
Within the Octagon, there are about 1,000 networked computers that can be used for purposes, such as research, teaching and student work. The computer labs are replete with the most updated hardware and software resources reflecting the latest trends in the advancement of engineering, computing and technology. Students can gain hands-on experience by using the kits, which can enhance their career skills.
The Stafford Campus offers courses in engineering, computing, nursing, midwifery and mental health. The University of Staffordshire also offers unique courses in subjects, such as music, computer games design, design technology, music, 3D animation, digital film, aeronautic and sports technology.
Since 1995, the Shropshire and Staffordshire College of Nursing and Midwifery has been conducting courses in nursing and related disciplines in various places, such as Oswestry, Shrewsbury and Telford. The Staffordshire University has more than 5,000 students studying in other countries. These countries include Malaysia, China, India, Pakistan, Spain, Macedonia, Nigeria, France, Greece, Spain, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka and others. Research carried out by the university in the fields of engineering, computing and technology has scored very highly according to a recent research assessment. The awards of the university help students gain employment easily. A majority of students graduating from the Staffordshire University enter a career within a short span of six months.
